Lydia Towns

I started the PhD program at UTA in the fall of 2013.  My interests are broadly speaking the Atlantic world in the early modern period with a particular focus on English privateers and exploration and discovery.  I am currently working on my dissertation which looks at English exploration and activity in the Atlantic during the first half of the sixteenth century.  The strong cartographic focus of our department and the Library’s Special Collections offers me the unique opportunity to do a lot of my research here at UTA. I currently serve as the THSO president.  I received my Masters of Liberal Arts at Dallas Baptist University.
